This concept map of the static and dynamic technology and media tools is a great way of demonstrating the different ways learning can be assisted in a distance education environment. While the static learning tools give the learners the opportunity to gain information from a “one way” perspective, the dynamic learning tools allows the students to actually interact in the process of distance learning.
I have had to learn to use new technologies in my distance education experience; both static and dynamic. I have learned course material through static tools such as web pages, article text, and podcasts. At the present time however, I find myself using more dynamic tools for learning such as Skype, video conferencing, and blogs. I feel that using the dynamic tools I have a more powerful role in my learning process.

I had to get out of my comfort zone to experiment with dynamic technologies. Before taking this class, I had no experience with blogs. I did not know anything about scribd and embedding power point presentations into blogs. I have learned a lot and enjoy using this dynamic technology!

I like the dynamic technoliges as well, but still prefer traditional text resources (books, web pages, etc.) to introduce myself to new material. To me, the dynamic technologies, like Skype and Facebook, are useful for discussing and making sense of what I have read, but it's only after I've gone over the new material that I find myself seeking out these dynamic tools. Do you think that's the natural progression - static to dynamic? or should I be going out of my comfort zone to try more dynamic content tools? Thoughts?

Graphic organizer is colorful,and it list many technologies. I agree with you in regard to static and dynamic technology media tools provide diverse ways to learn in the distance education environment. When I completed the concept map, I found that I had had expereince with both static and dynamic technology. However, I lean more heavily towards the static technologies. I believe that the static technologies have led me to experiment with the dynamic technologies. Furthermore, I must admit that these two classes have brought my first interaction with technology media tools such as the blog, skype, and wikis.

I love dynamic technologies because even though they often require more time and effort, they are more engaging. As we have progressed throughout this course and me through this program, I am being exposed more and more to these types of tools. As I work with them, I try to figure out how they can be implemented in the K-12 environment as well.
